To the Moms We Love

Mother’s Day is approaching this weekend on May 9th and we want to give a shoutout to all the moms and mother figures who inspire us every day. Take this time to be in connection with your loved ones and with yourself. Be fully present with your feet firmly planted where you are right now. You deserve to feel special, valued, cared for and loved on all days.

In honour of all of our mothers and mother figures, here is a reminder to continue to walk boldly through this life. We’ve created a Mother’s Day Gift Guide that we hope will inspire you to find something special for mom or any woman in your life. Each one of these products in this guide is a reminder to lean into those practices of self-love and nourishment.

Monthly Client Feature

Each month we are selecting one special client to feature in our monthly newsletters. There are so many inspiring women in our SI SKIN community that we want to take the time to honour and show our appreciation for them.

This month we are featuring Rachel! Rachel is a woman who leads with heart and passion. A mama to 2 beautiful kiddos and a yoga teacher, her self-awareness and perseverance is inspiring. We asked Rachel a series of questions that you can read below so you can get to know her and what lights her up.

Thank you for your constant loyalty over the past couple years Rachel! We loved reading your answers and we are so grateful to have you a part of this community.

1. On hard days, what motivates you to get up and start your day? Best remedy for overcoming challenges? The 5 Second Rule (by Mel Robbins) has sometimes been the only thing to get me up some days. It's as simple as it sounds - picture yourself ready to blast off like a rocket, and start counting down. "5-4-3-2-1, BLAST OFF!" Then do the thing. And yes, it has to be a countDOWN. Check her out for more real life talk and tips. Literal timeouts are my go-to for hard things - deep breaths, closed eyes, movement, solitude. As an introvert, I need time to digest and process before being able to move forward. Projects are also a past time favorite way to channel any lingering energy - getting crafty or constructive allows me to feel like I'm being productive and have a say in a small outcome.

2. Do you have a morning routine that stays consistent or do you like to shake things up? I discovered 'talkless mornings' through yoga teacher training and it's now something I can't imagine my mornings without. Whether it's 5, 15, or 50 minutes, starting my day off in silence (from myself and others) is a real luxury that makes a real difference. Also, lemon water before coffee - c/o Stacey Irvine ;)

3. What is one item that you couldn’t live without? A good blanket. Even on the hottest days, I always have something with me.

4. What advice would you give to your younger self? Don't worry about holding on so tight; the things that are meant for you, will always find you, for better or worse. You can't force the good things or keep away the hard things. Hang on for the ride and try to learn something along the way.

5. Life mantra or favourite quote? I have SO many and am such a nerd for good quotes (and yellow highlighters). - Don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't go to for advice - We must learn the difference between those who are gold and those who are simply gold plated - Do not try to rationalize instinct - The only person's behavior we can control is our own and the only thing we can truly give someone is information - No one is coming to save you. Keep going. You've got this. - I closed my eyes and spoke to you in a thousand silent ways

6. Who inspires YOU? Storytellers. Regardless of person or profession, there's something magical and awe-inspiring about a good story. One of my favorites quotes is "Believe in the power of a good story. Believe that words can take us back to the place we wish we were, bring us into the present moment, and transport us to where we're going. Let words give you the freedom to experience life through the eyes of another as you read them, and explore the depths of your heart as you write them. Our stories heal our souls; they're how we'll heal the world"

7. One word that you aspire to embody in 2021? Simplicity.

I am forever grateful for the love and support within the community. Here’s to continuing to grow, feel and connect together.

All love, all days

Stacey & the SI SKIN Team xo
