‘Tis the season for cozy sweaters and glowing skin!

Hello to you and the season of all things cozy. xo

As the seasons continue to shift and we land into Fall, it brings an opportunity for growth. The air feels cooler and crisper. That well worn cozy sweater is pulled out. The days become shorter and the leaves turn from green to yellow. It’s through this transition that I find myself also shifting, growing. Landing in a place of vulnerability this season to cultivate change. I am finding those moments to pause in self inquiry and gratitude.

For the past two years I have worked endlessly growing what I believed would be a little side biz alongside my nursing career to give others the tools, knowledge and support to nourish their skin and spirits. Over the past few years my small side biz has grown and I’m deeply grateful for so many of you that have trusted me with your skin, your time and your dollars. It is no SMALL thing in my world - ESPECIALLY in today’s climate. And so, I find myself in the wake of my own feelings,
thinking how I can continue to be of service.

Here are some things that I am focusing on this month.

New Technology and Treatment at SI Skin

I’m excited to be share my newest offering to you. It’s called the Microneedling Resurfacing Facial.

What is micro-needling?
Micro-needling is a non-surgical and non-ablative procedure used to treat various skin conditions such as ageing (wrinkles, stretching), scarring (acne or surgical), hyper-pigmentation, sun damage and/or hair loss.

The Innopen is the newest micro-needling technology, scientifically proven to enhance skin health. The Innopen utilizes stamp technology that allows for controlled micro-channels with no unnecessary damage to the skin’s surface. This new micro-needling technology uses very fine, sterile needles to puncture the skin and create micro-channels deep into the dermis in order to stimulate your body’s own reaction and healing. When your body is in healing mode it has no choice but to make more elastin and collagen. Both being essential for healthy glowing skin. WE LOVE THAT! The innopen allows for increased penetration and absorption of customized nutrient rich serums into the dermal layer of your skin to assist in the skin’s rejuvenation process. Essentially you are utilizing your body’s own natural healing ability to stimulate skin recovery and smoothing. The treatment is particularly useful to acne scaring, pigmentation and good for patients whose collagen has been weakened by age or the environment.

Clients who receive this micro-needling treatment will also receive a a vitamin infusion treatment post needling to support the healing process and aid results. This includes a combination of ultrasound and iontophoresis electrical current with an alginate mask to increase serum absorption by 4000X.

OCTOBER IS ALSO PREGNANCY & INFANT LOSS AWARENESS MONTH

My best friend Kristina Oriold and her husband Nick lost their daughter at birth over 9 years ago. One of the greatest lessons I learned while I witnessed her grief that first year was the importance of saying Riley’s name and not being scared to talk about and remember her. I can remember her little hands, soft skin and little baby lips like it was yesterday. Witnessing the loss of Riley and the grief that would unfold truly has no words but the resiliency and growth I observed in both Kristina and Nick in that first year as well as the 9 years that would follow is nothing short of admirable. Riley was most certainly an Earth Angel and one that continues to make a profound impact on the lives of so many today. Kristina’s ability to support and nourish so many others that have experienced miscarriage and/or infant loss is that of pure superhuman strength. Riley was smart when she chose you as her mama.

Tiny Footprints is hosting their annual gala and silent auction virtually this year on October 17th.

It is a special night to recognize and honour the brief lives that been lost but have had lasting impressions. If you have been to a previous event you have felt the impact. Over the past four years, this event has raised significant funds in support of care for women and their families going through these heart-breaking experiences. Proceeds contribute toward programs throughout Calgary at Foothills Medical centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, Rockyview General Hospital, South Health Campus and community health programs and 12 Carewest care centres throughout the community. If you would like to help support these programs or want to learn more about Tiny Footprints and the many women who work tirelessly to support it, please click the link below. One of the greatest forms of self-care is taking the time to be with what is. To step into your own vulnerability, because it's in those moments of presence that you can find true freedom and clarity (and that feels damn GOOD).

As Brené Brown said

“Vulnerability isn’t good or bad. It’s not what we call a dark emotion, nor is it always a light, positive experience. Vulnerability is the core of all emotions and feelings. To feel is to be vulnerable. To believe vulnerability is weakness is to believe that feeling is weakness. To foreclose on our emotional life out of a fear that the costs will be too high is to walk away from the very thing that gives purpose and meaning to living.… Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.”

Music is MEDICINE. Please enjoy a playlist I curated for you. It’s called “Nourish”. I love to use it in my studio during treatments or in my home to set the tone for nourishment and care. ENJOY. Xo
